Ok folks, there finally here!
These are the Mercury plastic oval emblems used from1957 to 1962 approx.
They were "decorated" in four color cominations.
The emblems were a very difficult
part to reproduce, based on the painting and vacuum metalizing of the small
lettering in the injected molded part. With help from a few individuals
who worked on this part in 1955, to Mercury Marines legal department and
the many colectors who helped finance this project through pre-production
sales. Thank You!

The black background/ chrome
and red lettering used on a 1957 Mark 55.
The four combinations...

How they were used...
Mercury traditionally was
very creative in how they used componets on engines, especally during model
year changes. These would be the most common applications of the emblems.
1957
A black background emblem
was mounted on engines painted Sunset Orange, Bimini Green (Merchromic green
metallic), Sarasota Blue.
1957-1958
A silver background with
chrome and blue lettering would have been used on the blue two tone painted
engines such as Sarasota Blue/Sand Tan and the Marlin Blue/Gulf Blue combinations.
This emblem was also found on many Sunset Orange engines.
1958-1962+
The silver background w/light
gold and red lettering was mounted on all colors during these years. Of
course there were always were exceptions. The white background w/light gold
and red lettering was mostly used on control boxes for the Cloud White motors.
