Down To Business With Employment Traditions
Employment Traditions is an award-winning West Michigan PEO (Professional Employer Organization) that serves as a co-employer and outsourced human resource department for local companies such as Southland Auto Wash, Superior Asphalt and OTI Transportation.
To provide these services to more than 2,700 employees in an efficient and cost-effective manner, Employment Traditions utilizes a web-based application, HRPyramid (formerly known as Scorpeo), which allows the company's clients to access online payroll functions, safety information and other human resource related materials. In addition, each of the company's co-employees can access and update their contact information and find information related to their benefits.
As an outsourcer, Employment Traditions knows the advantages of focusing on the company's business and sourcing out administrative and other overhead functions. To this end they outsource the updating, service and administration of their HRPyramid system to hi-tech, who serves as the company's outside IT Department."
In addition, the company stores its servers that run the application, in West Michigan's most secure and connected data center at Iserv/EagleNet's headquarters.
Our business model is based on providing a high-level of service with a minimum cost to our customers and hi-tech helps us achieve that," said Patrick Montgomery, president of Employment Traditions. In addition we require an off site location with high connectivity and security."
Hi-tech and Iserv recently announced a strategic alliance to deliver a more comprehensive set of technology services for businesses. hi-tech, Inc. is an IT consulting firm with a 15-year track record of helping organizations of all sizes realize meaningful returns on investments in technology. hi-tech has broad experience implementing and managing systems from many leading hardware and software providers, including Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, Novell and Citrix.
As part of the affiliation, hi-tech has relocated its headquarters to the 33rd Street location in Grand Rapids that also serves as home to Iserv's corporate office and data center. The affiliation provides both companies with access to highly complementary resources offering businesses a one-stop technology option.
Iserv/EagleNet customers can now tap into hi-tech's systems expertise and extended services including infrastructure strategy, design and implementation. hi-tech customers will have on-site access to Iserv's highly reliable data center and related services, as well as the ability to leverage Iserv's support staff and training center.
Outsourcing Employment Tradition's IT functions allows them to maintain a competitive advantage," said Jeff VanderWal, president of hi-tech. We can provide full service on their system, keep their data in a secure but highly available data center and provide the best in class support on their custom applications."
Iserv/EagleNet's 24-hour monitored Tier 1 Data Center incorporates the latest fire suppression technologies with three diverse redundant fiber connections to the Internet. In addition, Iserv also has multiple power backup systems, including a high-capacity mini-turbine generator on-site to provide electricity in the event of extended outages.
Our alliance with hi-tech allows both companies to maximize service to our customers," said Victor Shepherd, chief executive officer of Iserv/EagleNet. In this case, we were able to offer hi-tech a complete package of service and security for their application."
How To Easily Connect Multi-Location Facilities - Virtual Private Networks
Need a secure, robust connection to share data and information across Michigan, the country or even continents? Consider a Virtual Private Network (VPN) - a dedicated Internet connection that securely ties together private corporate networks.
VPNs are used for site-to-site and client to site connectivity. Providing connections between distant corporate and regional offices that would typically require traditional networking solutions and/or for remote workers that need access to corporate information systems. But increasingly, VPNs are used for extranets to connect external business partners, customers, suppliers and others with network access.
A VPN is cost-effective because it uses the Internet to link the network. But is also a dedicated, secure and private connection.
Iserv/EagleNet has proven expertise in installing VPNs for businesses, throughout the state and across the US. We can help assess your business needs and coordinate the entire installation process. Iserv/EagleNet can also supply equipment and ensure the connections are reliable and secure. Our engineers will communicate with you every step of the way and providing support long after the connections are in place.
Iserv/EagleNet recently installed a VPN to connect Portage, Michigan-based Eimo Americas with its global headquarters in Finland, along with other facilities in Michigan, Texas, New York, Brazil, Finland, Hungary, and China.
In addition to providing Internet services and VPN connectivity at higher bandwidth for less cost, Iserv/EagleNet can also provide complete co-location of a company's servers at Iserv's state-of-the-art Tier 1 Data Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
VPNs create privacy while leveraging the cost-effectiveness of public networks, a clear advantage in today's global world. To learn more about how EagleNet can help your business get connected, contact our Business Account Management (BAM) Team at 1.888.999.3245 ext.4102
BAM Team Member Profile Q&A - Mike Pepper
What is your favorite part of working at EagleNet?
My favorite part of working at EagleNet is the strong connection between technology and our customers. We provide the reliability and stability of a national provider with next-door neighbor friendliness and service.
Walk us through a typical day, what types of issues do you help EagleNet customers solve?
I am a member of our Business Account Management Team (BAM). My job is to take care of our business customers from an administrative level. My customer support and technical background helps me to understand customer needs, suggest options and then implement them. Some of the tasks that I perform are selling to current customers, addressing billing issues, providing technical support and serving as a point of contact for our larger customers when they have an urgent, high-priority need.
What do you think is the most important thing EagleNet provides to customers?
The most important thing that EagleNet provides is definitely our level of service. From our customer service, to our engineering, to our front desk, EagleNet employees seem to care about our customers more than any other business that I have worked for.
In what way has an Internet connection benefited your life?
I have always used the Internet for everyday activities like emailing friends, checking sports scores and movie information. But in the last two years it has benefited my life the most. My girlfriend is deaf and email and instant messaging allow me to communicate with her much more effectively than over the phone.
What sort of trends do you see with companies using EagleNet's business services?
I have noticed a steady rise in customers looking for added bandwidth. DSL has become an affordable, reliable service for our smaller businesses, while our T1 lines still remain the leader in high-speed connectivity and bandwidth.
