What is a v.92 Modem On Hold (MOH)?

A v.92 Modem allows you to receive incoming calls and stay connected to the Internet (Call-waiting service from your phone company is required).

It also works in reverse; you can make a phone call while connected to the Internet and keep the modem connection live (this requires 3-way calling from your phone company).

How does it work?

When you receive an incoming call, instead of being disconnected, the v.92 modem puts your Internet connection on hold. A message pops up on your screen presenting you with the phone number of the incoming call, allowing you to choose which calls are important and which can wait.

What else does a v.92 Modem do for me?

Faster Web Browsing! The main feature that makes a v.92 modem faster than a v.90 modem is v.44 - the new compression protocol. It is based upon a compression scheme that can speed up your web browsing as much as 50%. Not all v.92 modems are required to have v.44 data compression.
