Iserv Webmail First Time Users Guide

What is Iserv Webmail?

Iserv Webmail is a browser based email program that will allow you to check your email from anywhere there is Internet access. Iserv Webmail functions very similar to your normal Iserv email account. For example, your username and password is the same for Webmail as well as your regular account. You can send and receive email just as any normal email program can. Yet it is important to mention that there are some differences between your regular Iserv email account and the Iserv Webmail account. Below is a brief but very important overview of the differences:

  • Viewing Email: Iserv will continue to support the use of existing POP3 email applications like Microsoft Outlook Express. We recommend that you use only one method of reading your email but not both. When viewing your email, you should use either Iserv Webmail or your regular POP3 desktop email application. Desktop applications download your email and store it on your computer. Once an email message is stored on your computer, it is no longer available for viewing via Iserv Webmail.
  • Email Addresses, Calendars, Folders, Sent & Saved Messages: Since this will be your first time using Iserv Webmail it will be like using a new email application. The email addresses, folders and saved messages from your current email account will not show up. As with any other web-based email account you will need to repopulate your email address book, folders, calendars, etc.
  • Storage: Your Webmail account has 25MB of storage - well over any other web-based email product around! Your mailbox quota and the percentage that is being used will be displayed, at all times, on the upper left corner of the main Webmail screen so you can track your storage space availability. Once your storage space reaches 80% capacity an email notification will be sent to you reminding you that your storage space is close to maximum capacity. The email will also identify ways to create more storage space. Iserv also provides additional storage space starting as low as $2.00 a month.
  • Anti-Spam Guard: The Iserv Webmail program allows you to control your spam filtering. To view and adjust this feature, go to "Options", "Anti Spam Settings". When your spam filter is on and an email is recognized as spam it will be routed to either your Blocked.Mail or Junk.Mail folders. These folders will not appear on your screen until the program has identified an email as spam. If you turn your spam filter on, make sure to check your Blocked.Mail and Junk.Mail folders frequently for messages that may have been routed there but were not necessarily spam mail. The high-level anti-spam filtering is very strict, and even messages from a known source may go in the spam folders (Blocked.Mail and Junk.Mail) rather than the INBOX. If you recognize that an address is in a spam folder and you would like it to be sent to your INBOX instead you may specify the address as acceptable by adding it to your list under "Accept ALL emails from" located on your Anti Spam Settings page.
  • Privacy: Iserv Webmail is a secure program. Iserv goes above and beyond our competitors to assure that your privacy is protected.
  • Programs Supported: Iserv Webmail works wonderfully with latest version of most web browsers commonly used today including Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera and Mozilla. Iserv Webmail does not currently work with any Netscape 4.x versions.
