Configuring a Dialup Connection - Mac OS 9Follow the instructions below to manually set up your Iserv Internet connection. If you need assistance, please call Customer Service at 888.64.ISERV or email info@iserv.net. - Double-click the 'Mac Hard Drive' icon (on your desktop)
- Double-click the 'Assistants' folder
- Double-click 'Internet Setup Assistant'
- You will be asked: 'Would you like to setup your computer to use the Internet?', Click 'Yes' (Hint: if you make an error you can click on the back arrow to make any changes)
- You will be asked: 'Do you already have an Internet account?', Click 'Yes'
- The 'Introduction' screen explaines the information that you will need to successfully complete the configuration of your Mac for the Internet
- In the 'Internet Configuration' section, Select 'Add Internet Configuration'
- In the 'Configuration Name and Connection Type' section, you will see:
- 'What would you like to call this configuration?', Enter "Iserv"
- 'Do you use a modem or a network to connect to the Internet?', Choose 'Modem'
- In the 'Modem Settings' section you will see:
- 'Which modem are you using?', Choose the correct modem
- 'Which port is the modem connected to?' - if this is not automatically selected, use the pop-up menu to select the correct port
- 'Is the phone line Tone or Pulse?', Choose the correct option (Do not check 'Ignore Dial Tone')
- In the 'Configuration Information' section, Enter the appropriate dialup number for your local dialing area (To find an Iserv access number that is local to you, go to our Dialup Access Numbers)
- In the 'Name' or 'User ID' field, Enter your Iserv username (format "username", not "username@iserv.net")
- In the 'Password' field, Enter your case-sensitive Iserv password
- In the 'PPP Connect Scripts' section you will see:
- 'Does your ISP require that you use a PPP connect script?', Select 'No'
- In the 'IP Address' section you will see:
- 'Is there an IP address for this configuration?', Select 'No'
- In the 'Domain Name Servers' section:
- In the 'Primary DNS' field, Enter "204.177.184.10"
- In the 'Secondary DNS' field, Enter "204.177.184.15"
- Hit return to drop the cursor down a line
- In the 'Domain Name' field, Enter "iserv.net"
- In the 'Email address and Password' section:
- Enter your Iserv email address (format "username@iserv.net")
- Enter your case-sensitive Iserv password
- In the 'Email Account and Host Computer' section:
- Enter your email account (format "username@mail.iserv.net")
- Enter the 'Host Computer' as "mail.iserv.net"
- In the 'Newsgroup Host Computer' section, Type "news.iserv.net"
- In the 'Proxy Servers' section, Check 'No'
- Click 'Go Ahead' to complete the configuration
