VSA International was founded in 1974 by Ambassador Jean Kennedy Smith and remains affiliated with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. The United States Congress has designated VSA as the nation’s coordinating arts agency for people with disabilities. Annually, VSA serves 5.6 million people in 49 states and over 80 countries.
 
 
About Us

VSA arts of Michigan- Grand Rapids (“VSAMI-GR”) has been a part of the Kent County landscape since 1986. It was brought to Grand Rapids by the Junior League of Grand Rapids. Since its inception, VSA has benefited over 18,000 individuals with disabilities from throughout Kent County. We are a member of the Arts Council of Greater Grand Rapids.

VSA arts of Grand Rapids is a district affiliate of the VSA arts of Michigan. Located in Detroit, VSA Michigan provides programming support through nine district affiliates state-wide.
